A Farnborough based leading international Defence and Security Technology Company employed Saracen Interiors to find a solution to its conference room and meeting room requirements.
The client required flexible meeting space and Saracen was tasked with providing an acoustic conference facility to an existing mezzanine floor whilst keeping within tight budgetary restrictions.
The design and construction of a fully glazed conference facility on the main mezzanine floor of QinetiQ’s reception building was a real challenge for the Saracen design and build team.
Not only was the facility to be constructed with minimal disruption, it had to be designed and installed to fit the curved construction of the mezzanine floor design.
The final solution included a specially designed ‘dry bubble’ joint between the glass sections that could accommodate the angled glass, whilst fulfilling the strength design specifications.
Glazed units were lifted in over the existing mezzanine safety railing system and installed over one weekend, minimising disruption to this important executive area.
This new facility provides two functions. It can serve as one large conference room or alternatively, can be divided by a wooden movable wall to provide two separate smaller meeting rooms.
Our client’s corporate branding was reinforced by including their logo in a prominent position on the glass manifestation. Saracen also developed a manifestation concept that mimicked the decorative wall finish to the surrounding lift and stairwell.
