Paddington Green School

Community School, Paddington Green Primary based in Westminster, London invited Saracen to tender for alterations to the main school building.

Having won the opportunity to tender, Saracen transformed the ground, first and second floors. New designs were created to allow the listing building to be refurbished and modernised. The rooms were transformed to provide a more flexible and spacious working environment for the staff at the school.

The ground floor office was created by adapting the area previously used as a reception. A counter and reception hatch folding doors had previously featured but were removed and replaced with a single glazed, glass, vision panel and solid core, paint finish door with circular vision panels. A small kitchenette was decommissioned and removed to allow additional space for desking and shelving throughout the room.

The work area was decorated throughout and bespoke workstations, pedestals and adjustable shelving were installed as well as new surface mounted dado trunking to allow power and data for multiple users, providing a cost effective solution with easier access for staff.

New surface mounted lights were supplied and installed to both rooms to provide direct and indirect light in accordance with rules and regulations for visual environment and display screen use.

Solid stud partitioning was installed to infill the previous reception entrance and open area between the two rooms.

Mezzaine First Floor Drama Store & Second Floor Staff Office

Tiled gas fireplace including hearths were removed and gas fires disconnected. Replaced with infill and grille to provide ventilation to remaining flue.

Walls and ceilings were plastered, floor screed and heavy duty vinyl wood strip floor finish throughout Drama Store
