CH2M Hill
From its inception in 1946, CH2M Hill has become a global leader in providing engineering, construction and program management services. The company is part of the consortium constructing the Olympic village for the UK, 2012 Olympic Games.
With more than 23,500 employees in various regional offices worldwide and gross revenues of US$6.3 billion, Saracen Interiors was delighted to be asked to tender for the refurbishment of the company’s London head offices in Kensington.
A comprehensive and detailed design proposal which included the radical complete re-organisation of the reception, conference and meeting areas together with the executive suite ensured that Saracen was the contractor of choice for this project.
The brief for the project was to fully refurbish the 4th floor office and completely fit out from scratch the newly leased ground and first floors. The works included the de-commissioning of the buildings energy consuming heating and ventilation system to these floors and the installation of an advance energy efficient, self-contained climate control system, reducing costs and helping to meet the client’s environmental targets.
Data systems were integrated between the three floors with a complicated optical fibre link which ensured essential links between the UK and other international locations were maintained.
New energy efficient lighting systems were installed where possible to ensure that the lighting requirements for the three floors were managed efficiently.
The project included the installation of standard suspended and feature ceilings, flooring and furniture.
“I’ve spent many years in customer service and it’s incredibly important to me the way that we are treated and dealt with by a company and supplier.
Saracen Interiors has demonstrated over and over again that they share the same values which continue to be very important to us.
With design and build contracts, quite often problems arise at short notice. We don’t have any problems at all in contacting Saracen and, likewise, if they come across an issue they will phone us instantly. I have total confidence in what they do; they always give us the best value for money and top quality service.”

“One of the client’s main concerns was that business was not disrupted during the refurbishment of the existing occupied areas,” reveals David Saunders, Site Manager.
‘Our fit out teams have experience of working on occupied sites and it’s my job to make sure nothing we do effects the day to day running of our client’s business. At one point, we even worked through the night to prepare a conference room ready for a high level, unexpected meeting. Ultimately, we do whatever is required.’
The project was completed in phases, with phased occupancy, to budget and to a strict program.
Saracen continues to enjoy a close working relationship with this client.
