Health and Safety
Saracen Office Interiors are CHAS Accredited. Find out more about CHAS here.
At any one time there is well over 2 million people employed in the construction industry in Britain today. Unfortunately serious injury and sometimes even death on construction sites are all too common.
Strict in-house Health and Safety policies in excess of those procedures and polices laid out in the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Health & Safety Offences Act 2008 and Environment & Safety Act 1988 ensure that we maintain our independently audited Health & Safety on site record of 100%.

Whilst continuing to provide the very best quality office interior solutions, on time and to budget, Health & Safety remains a top priority.
- Asbestos - The Hidden Killer
The Hidden Killer asbestos campaign was launched in October 2008 following a regional pilot in the North West. The campaign succeeded in raising awareness of asbestos risks - 8 out of 10 tradesmen were aware of the adverts and 71% said they had or planned to take further precautions.
- Site waste management 'essential to avoiding fines'
Companies have been advised to ensure they have implemented site waste management schemes or risk being susceptible to fines. Aviva Risk Management Solutions (ARMS) has reminded businesses that they have an obligation to recycle or properly dispose of corporate waste such as packaging and trade effluent.
- First aid at work - new training regime comes into force
New training legislation comes into force from 1st October 2009, this includes revised guidance for employers and revised guidance for first aid training organisations.
Important changes in Health & Safety legislation:
- The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007: Directors of companies can now be held personally accountable if a member of their work force is fatally injured whilst at work if it can be shown that the appropriate Health and Safety guidelines were not followed.
- Health and Safety (Offences) Act 2008: Directors of companies can face imprisonment of up to two years and a fine for not complying with Health and Safety.
